Cake Budget
For Coaches & Counselors

The budget your clients will still be using in week three

Cake Budget is envelope budgeting that runs itself. The plan you build with a client in session keeps working after they stop thinking about it.

You have seen this pattern

A client leaves a session motivated. They set up a budget, categorize a week of spending, and feel great about it. Three weeks later they have stopped opening the spreadsheet, and now there is shame on top of the original problem.

That failure mode is not a discipline problem. Most budgeting tools assume daily upkeep and infinite follow-through, which for clients with ADHD or executive function challenges is an assumption calibrated to fail.

Cake Budget automates the upkeep instead of demanding it. Income splits itself into categories on payday. Transactions sort themselves. Bills fill up toward their due dates. The home screen answers the only question that matters day to day: can I spend right now?

What happens between sessions

The plan you build together runs unattended until the next session.

Paychecks split themselves

Cake detects your client's paycheck when it lands, even when it arrives a few days early, and splits it across their budget categories automatically.

Transactions sort themselves

Rules categorize spending as it happens. There is no inbox of unsorted transactions waiting to become a catch-up session.

One question, answered

The home screen is a traffic light: green means safe to spend, red means hold off. Your client never does math at the register.

Nothing scolds

If a client disappears for two weeks, nothing breaks and nothing shames them. The budget keeps running, and they come back to a summary of what went right.

The coach offer

A free account for you

You get a full Cake Budget account, free, to evaluate on your own and demo in sessions. No time limit, no strings.

30-day trials for your clients

Clients who sign up through your personal link get a 30-day free trial, double the standard 14 days. No credit card required to start.

Optional revenue share

If you want a revenue share on referred subscriptions, we will set one up when you reach out. If you would rather recommend with no strings attached, that works too.

When a client is ready to start, hand them the first-session guide. It walks them through setup in about 15 minutes.

What you can see: nothing

Cake has no coach dashboard and no visibility into client accounts. Your client's financial data is theirs alone.

That is a deliberate choice. Clients are more honest with a tool their coach cannot audit, and you never carry the liability of access. What they share in session is up to them.

Common questions

Is the bank connection safe?

Cake connects to banks through Plaid, the same SOC 2 Type II certified service used by major financial apps. Access is read-only: Cake can see transactions but can never move money or make changes to an account. We never sell data, and deleting an account permanently removes its data.

What does it cost after the trial?

Plans are $9 per month for Starter (1 bank connection), $15 for Budget Pro (4 connections), and $25 for Family (7 connections, up to 5 people). Most individual clients fit Starter.

What happens if a client decides not to subscribe?

Nothing surprising. There is no card on file during the trial, so there is no accidental charge. The account becomes read-only, their data is kept, and they can pick it back up any time.

How does my referral link work?

Your link looks like trycakebudget.com/?via=yourname. Anyone who signs up through it automatically gets the 30-day trial and is connected to you, which is also how the revenue share is tracked if you opt into one.

Do I need to set the budget up for my clients?

No. When a client connects their bank, Cake analyzes their recent transactions and proposes budget categories, auto-sorting rules, and a payday funding plan. The client reviews and confirms, which is a good exercise to do together in a session. There is a client guide you can hand them for exactly that.

Who is behind Cake Budget?

A solo, neurodivergent founder who built it over several years of personal use and answers support email personally. You are not routing clients into a faceless product.
